Kaitlyn’s Shoe Drive
My name is Kaitlyn Michalek and I am running a shoe drive until October 6. I’m collecting gently worn, used and new shoes that can be any size, any type, and for any age (no holes, mold, peeling soles, broken heels, missing inserts, or mismatched pairs). All donated shoes will be redistributed by Funds2Orgs to micro-entrepreneurs in developing countries to promote commerce and bring families out of poverty. Funds2Orgs will pay me based on the weight of shoes I collect. All funds will go towards my Vida Volunteer Dental Mission Trip to Guatemala next January, where I will join a team of other UW-La Crosse students and dental professionals to provide free dental care to underserved communities. I currently have over 1,000 pairs of shoes and my goal is to reach 2,500! You can donate your shoes at the donation box in Endurance House in Delafield or email me to schedule a pick-up time.
